   @HarriettMB 2.5 hours away by public transit. I've also got a heavy pack to worry about. Lots of things I'd be doing/seeing if I had a car. Finding reasonably priced accommodation where I can check in or stow my bag before 3pm is also a persistent problem

     @Infoseepage Or, since you are in Castlebar, see if you can get a lift/bus/transport to the Ceide Fields and the sea-stacks in that area. There is a very nice cafe at the Ceide Fields also.
