     @sun Incredible isn’t it? I’m not arguing against cannabis at all. It can be grown anywhere honestly. I’m just saying hemp isn’t a big deal at all in agriculture.
     
     Amusingly 122m people in USA in 1930 that was cited for hemp growth. Today there is 342m people. Just on that alone. 2.8x production is required to be equal. Simply put this is the corn production. It took 80 years to get touch over 3x from the baseline.
     
     Somehow we are supposed to not impact food production, produce all these products. At the time when agriculture land is being consumed by development. Farms are closing, massive numbers of them have reverted to wild state. Since 1950 29% of farmland has vanished. This trend will continue.
     
     This doesn’t address growing conditions and water availability that is becoming increasingly stressed.
     
     Pothead here has rational logic and reasonable expectations. If we throttled hemp hard today we might be at corn efficiency by the time I’m dead.

     @feld @sun It is very important to keep these stats in mind. If you don’t you don’t have a grasp of the fundamental limits. There’s always limits, there’s always negative to the positive. I’m not against hemp, I just think perspective is needed.
     
     In a perfect world we would be able to use hemp. However I can’t see producing cubic miles of material to provide cloth, oil and other products to compete with petroleum.
     
     We produced 800 million barrels of seed oil for instance last year. That means we need to increase seed oil by 8x to replace petroleum products just for driving. 8x exceeds the 3x of corn so that means?
     
     You need corn gains plus 2.67x more hemp land to hit the value needed. That’s assuming all 800 million barrels of oil currently came from hemp.
     
     This is mind boggling numbers obviously.

     @feld @sun lol look how much tobacco is and the amount of cigarettes smoked to joints. Cannabis will never consume as much as tobacco.
