@icedquinn EU parliament MPs can have assistants, there's pay for said assistants. It's given out by EU bodies (which is funded by EU taxes so indirectly citizen taxes in France) FN put their members as EUP assistants because the party had no money because it's a hollow shell paid for mostly by the privated fortune of Lepen and co said EUP assistants didn't work, simple as
suit was pretty fucking ironclad too, it's not the only party that got sued with the exact same thing but the FN was really really fucking sloppy >assistants who were mandated to live in bruxelles by their contract spent 12 days over 4 years there >party forged fake documents to prove work was being done >many private conversations with FN leadership being aware of the fraud, being aware that it's fraud, stating "our finances are cooked if we don't continue to fraud"
@icedquinn yes but there's no suit looking to get anywhere on him, plus he's still in office so good luck we also have former president sarkozy getting his ass got for embezzling lybian money with the help of gaddafi, maybe that's who you're thinking of he's also whining about lawfare but again, the case only got to this point 'cause it's fucking ironclad, plus his ass gets the electronic bracelet treatment anyways instead of actual prison
@mer i am talking about all the pissing and shitting going on whenever a right wing candidate exists somewhere.
martial law declarations (canada), dissolving parliament (france), trying to ban opposition (germany), cancelling elections (romania), running cases based on criminal laws that don't even exist (USA)
liberal democracies looking incredibly sussy in recent years and i say this as someone who doesn't even want to vote for those people
@icedquinn France has a right wing goverment and president right now. The dissolution was a move to grab more seats for the right wing, which resulted in a more right wing goverment than before. The Lepen affair started in 2014. It just took long to reach its conclusion because it's a high profile case and all recourse and delays were taken. You sound like you have absorbed nothing of french politics except second hand fascist whining.
@lebronjames75@breadcat@mer pretty sure i openly admitted not being deeply familiar with the case at the outset, so not sure what kind of points you were hoping to score.
@mer@icedquinn@breadcat icedquinn is a mentally retarded, autistic woman who struggles with very many (read: all social related) concepts and has a non-capacity to understand things of any larger (especially social related) scale. when his brain-limit is reached she plays the innocent oh-im-a-silly-child-who-dont-care-about-the-truth tee hee, after having attempted to spout truth
@icedquinn@breadcat as a french person the concept that the president can justbreak laws and threaten judges is kind of surreal in general now is the time of monsters
