   Installed a 500 GB NVME into my dinky E410... but moving Windows seems like it's a hassle. On an (older) Mac you just boot into a special place and you can clone from there with the built-in tools, but on Windows you of course have to risk downloading shady or paid software.

   Maybe I can make a linux boot key? Linux probably has some neat cloning tools. dd?

     @androidarts If you're moving Windows from one disk to another (bigger) one, and can have both connected at the same time, then I would suggest Clonezilla. Granted, its UI is, shall we say, reminiscent of the nineties, but it should do the job - and it's Open Source.

     @androidarts I don't have experience with Mint, only Debian. FWIW, a Debian Live *can* "install" packages albeit in RAM (on next live boot the package will be gone). Clonezilla is in the package repo. I imagine Mint can do it too.

     @aaribaud It's a 128GB onboard flash to 500 GB blank NVME.
     Maybe my existing linux mint boot usb stick can install new software like clonezilla? I forgot how it works but an usb key isn't read-only...

     But I suppose it's better to make a live image of just Clonezilla.
