While the actual meaning of the term "soyware" often accurately describes my personal opinions on some software (being frustrating to use, bloated, inefficient and unstable), I really dislike the term itself.
I know the term originally came from the wojak/soyjak meme sphere which I find rather cringe. Especially because I don't consider soy to be a bad food ingredient (I got raised in an Indonesian family and we tend to eat a lot of soy products).
What is a better alternative term to describe soyware?

@garfieldairlines@fedi.garfieldairlines.net I think "slop" in general means "unappetizing" which can definitely work I guess.

@garfieldairlines@fedi.garfieldairlines.net Yet there's one issue and that is that in tech spheres the meaning of "slop" has been shifting to mean anything "generated by machine learning models", which is not what I mean.

@radmin@limepeeps.perchinup.top Yeah shitware is fine I guess. That definitely gives off the kind of impression I'm going for.

@SuperDicq@minidisc.tokyo I mostly instead use the term "shitware," which also describes software that is bloated and frustrating to use, instead :neofox_think:
It doesn't have an association with beef-overdosed losers, and I love how much more hateful it is towards the companies that are fine with giving us this shit -

@garfieldairlines@fedi.garfieldairlines.net I think shovelware has a well defined meaning and it is definitely not the same thing indeed.

@garfieldairlines@fedi.garfieldairlines.net Shovelware as far as I understand just means software produced for the sole purpose of generating the largest amount of sales with the minimum amount of effort.

@garfieldairlines@fedi.garfieldairlines.net I think at least I will use "shitware" instead of "soyware" from now on.
Soy is good, I don't want to associate soy with something bad. We can all agree that shit is disgusting tho. -

@SuperDicq@minidisc.tokyo then we need to coin "shitware" or something like that…
