   The proliferation not only of AI slop but also AI integration with every piece of software I use and seeing students totally dependent on Chat GPT for test answers has been enormously depressing

     It'll pass with the hype train. There are very few economically valuable uses for this tech that involve a human writing prompts, much less doing so "well", whatever that even means.
