   honestly, its really no fun anymore to keep fragsturztaube running. the last weeks have been way too much stress and i don't wanna do it anymore. so i'm gonna shut down the site next monday 31.03.2025

     I have run forum communities in the past, and while that is not a forum, I imagine the same principle applies. Sometimes something that started as a fun side project, can take more from you than it gives back, and the best thing you can do is just shut it down (or pass it off to someone, as I did). -- Don't feel bad, it happens.

     yes, andy is correct. both sides didn't shine in all of this mess and it got to a point where i didn't want to manage it anymore. the blame for that mess is not relly on the new people, but on how the people already being there reacted to them joining (and yes, that includes me as well). this dynamic snowballed and created a big divide on the site. me deactivating the public feed and stuff probably didn't help either causing one of the groups feeling isolated.
     
     learnings from all of this for people who want to host their own retrospring (keep in mind, this is just my 2 cents. andy or any other retrospring operator might have different points in this list):
     - don't open sign-ups if you are not ready to deal with vastly different communities
     - if you have open sign-ups, make sure to have a well organised moderation team. be transparent in your moderation calls and be ready to have to explain it multiple times to people asking for clarification why some call was made
     - make sure you understand to some extend what communities you have on your site and how they are interacting with each other
     
     thats all i'm gonna say about this and i certainly don't want to touch this topic again. you wont see me on any other retrospring site anytime soon
