@cowanon It also contains spyware that tracks your location (a mobile chipset) and it handles poorly too (good luck swerving to avoid a moose or whatever). -

@Suiseiseki @cowanon Telematics on most variants of the 70 is weak or nonexistant, it's still a fairly barebones vehicle versus whats being made today. -

@JRamsey @cowanon Generally it's hard to tell, as they don't write "mobile chipset" or "mobile antenna" on the parts diagram - they call it the Data Communication Module; https://www.toyotanation.com/threads/how-does-the-dcm-data-communication-module-communicate.1633660/
If there is a more expensive variant which offers "connected services", it would be a safe guess that the cheaper models spy on your location too (as it's profitable to sell location data and it's cheaper to make everything the same) - even the cheapest manual models seem to have a touchscreen now. -
