Today I learned that Yemen was ruled in part by Jews and Arabic converts to the Jewish religion in the 500's, called the Himyarites. One mad Arab, Dhu Nuwas, rebelled against lawful regional power and started to kill Christians and destroy Christian towns in Yemen, including Zafar and Najan.
After hearing the news of this, Byzantine Emperor Justin I pleaded with the Christian Ethiopian monarch, Kaleb of Auxm, to avenge the Christians lost and to stop Dhu Nuwas and Himyarites. The resulting invasion of the Auxmite utterly destroyed the Jews and Himyarites, ending Jewish power in Yemen and Christian persecution, until the rise of Isalm.
Lessons: 1. The Jews were always up to no good. 2. It is acceptable to ask a magistrate to help end Christian persecution and to destroy the persecutors of the faithful.
