It makes me really happy to see how far No Man's Sky has come nearly a decade after its disastrous launch. I remember sending an email to Sean Murray while NMS was still in development, asking about the game dev biz and his creative process back in the days when I was still full of youthful optimism and had dreams of one day going into the game industry. I didn't really expect a reply, but he took the time to write a thoughtful response. That's how I knew his bashful persona wasn't an act, he's genuinely a real nice guy who just wanted to make something cool, and he proved that was truly who he was to the world when he refused to give up on his game even as everybody was shitting on him and his company post-launch.

@Hoss I'm interested in their next game, a fantasy setting has always been more interesting to me than sci-fi. I'm sure they learned a lot of lessons

I think the launch nightmare was almost entirely Sony's fault. They wanted to capitalize on the hype train and I'm sure that lead to a massive amount of pressure on Hello Games to accelerate development timelines when the game clearly needed at least another year of work to deliver what they originally intended.
