@kaia must be with like home equipment then? because i'm too young where people would have the disposable income to start with that hobby unless they know someone or a place

blacksmith is pretty hot for several reasons. a competent man who can do things with his hands is in high demand. blacksmithing also trains arm muscles. it's also a dirty job that however is not unclean, leading to a rough sturdy appearance. finally, it's traditionally a high prestige and very masculine occupation.

How attractive is that? 🤔
What are the advantages over archery? Other than not being shot in the back 😈

@kaia @m0xEE similar characteristics to what makes woodworking attractive

I would say blacksmithing is more attractive, at least in Germany, since there are more woodworkers left being a traditional trade level education, but very few blacksmiths.

@kim @kaia Also imma be real, i don't see how women find a lot of these hobbies attractive. Talk about reading with some of them and they're like "yeah I read the latest marc levy" if they read anything at all so i don't have much to talk about. I play the piano but then they never see me anywhere near a piano anyway so I might as well be lying. To go back to blacksmithing, what are women gonna be impressed about? Nails and a couple of knives?
Foreign languages is true for some reason but I don't get why. Cooking is extremely true and should be number 1 on the list.

@kaia @m0xEE when i think about the attractiveness of woodworking personally id imagine a man going
"hey honey, i just made a vase for some flowers i bought you"
but maybe that's just me

@kim @kaia @m0xEE also kinda similar to actual baking or cooking if they pursue it as a career :blobcatthinking:

@kaia @kim @m0xEE I think that's just the idealized romantic version of a blacksmith, the ones I've met aren't unclean, muscular, handsome, rough and sturdy. They're like the average bearded dude at the bar.
