   I have an English Education BA, TESOL certification, and post-grad in political science.

   I am now a head of an IT department, officially an IT Engineer according to the Japanese government because of...

   ...vocational coursework for computer science I took... *checks notes* while I was in high school.

   IT is a trade. It can be learned. And people care what you can do--not the degrees or certifications. Of which I have exactly zero.

   Expensive lesson to learn.

     Pretty happy my kiddo, after 2 years working on an engineering degree gave it up in favor of the trades.

     Why?

     An American college degree is now absolutely worthless.
