   Decided not to renew Microsoft office and instead do libre office.

   Did a small copy editing job for an old client and checked this with them up front, my contact said no problem whatsoever, he also only uses libre office and has never had a problem.

   Just got an email from him asking if I could send it as “just word” because the person who needs to open it is having trouble with the .odt attachment

   Ahhhhhh

   Sure, I can, if you pay me $70 to get word back. THAT’S WHY I ASKED

     @Bronwyn You can export as a word doc from libreoffice. It's not under save as though, it's under export.

     @Bronwyn I take that back, it is under "Save As" and there's a format dropdown in the lower right with Word formats.

     @Bronwyn There's a possibility that not all formatting transfers 100% to Word format, but most everything does with basic docs. If you have super nit-picky fancy formatting (special fonts, tables within tables, etc.) then save as Word, then re-open the word doc in a new window and see if everything is still like you want.

     @kingrat nah it’s basic enough that it shouldn’t be a problem at all. I’m just VERY new to libre office
