@gwynnion My best guess is that in 2026 it'll still be a bit subtler than that, in a "managed opposition" kind of state, just enough to give folks like Chuck Schumer some cover to claim "we aren't *there* yet" as the frog boils.
Activists in jail. A few Dem politicians under DOJ investigations, you know, "just asking questions" but subject to subpoenas whenever they have debates. New voter suppression laws, and DOJ/FBI/Fed "poll guards" to arrest people who vote wrong. Won't need to do more.

In 2026, Democrats are going to be like, "Ha-ha, now is our chance! Everybody vote for us!" And nobody will vote for them because Democrats let Trump disappear and murder them all already.
