@vkc Let me just say: Sort of at the point where I refuse to use this software in part because of the name thing.
Krita fits most of my use cases, so why even give it a second of my time?

@ernie @vkc Used it for a very long time, even professionally and have been trying to reduce my usage for some time too.
I think the problem can be pushed in the right direction by distribution packaging teams. We need a couple drop in replacement splash screens and the packagers can fix the naming.
@ernie @vkc Just removed the IMP on my Mac and replaced it with Krita. I'll let you know how I get on, I don't think I've looked at it since the last Libre Graphics Meeting I went to (at least 7-8 years)
@mattl @vkc I’m not saying that their work isn’t worth respecting, but I look at the Krita community and it’s leaps and bounds more welcoming. Also, its frame-based animation tools are basically the only good ones I’ve found outside of Photoshop.
@mattl @vkc I think the problem with it, if nailed down is that the name reflects bigger issues with the rest of the application, which is that the devs ignore end-user concerns. The name would have been changed years ago if they took those concerns seriously.
@ernie @vkc Yeah my initial impression of it is good. It has native menus and keybindings on macOS and I was able to do 2 of the 3 things I would typically use the other piece of software for. I’m sure the other is easy enough too.
@mattl @vkc They never sell it as a Photoshop alternative, but I always feel like they sell a good software package really short.
