I think Nick's problem is that he's never actually had to wage in a cage for anybody else, nor risked having to do so if the bottom fell out of his grift. I fucking hate waging, I'll probably never escape it, but if I did I'd never ruin the grift that lifted me out of it in such a retarded way.

Well, he was basically a trust fund baby. His Grandfather had a lot of Texas oil money and when he died Nick's mom took control of it. That's the only way to explain how he got that big house without a mortgage, and how he and his stay-at-home wife could afford to bang out five kids......his one-man operation of a small-town law firm and early streaming career wasn't paying those bills.
It wasn't until the Depp and Rittenhouse trails that he started making his own money, and he went buck-wild with it when he did.

I'm sure it's only due to the fact that he has a family that he wasn't cut off entirely for his behavior.

All the party shit happens gradually and you think you got everything in control. Especially when people start living that fast life later on in life it causes them to spin out of control. They're not thinking anything is ever at risk, it just kind of snowballs. Especially when you don't have that experience of dealing with situations in your 20s.

I think when you're a middle-aged man with a family you should be in the headspace to be like "Fuck, I'm too old for this shit. I got kids. I'm not gonna do this."

I wish that was the case but unfortunately the jaws of addiction manage to sink into some people. Maybe some simply can't handle the fame and temptations
