@epicdemiologist imo that's very wise.
I've begged friends and family, especially the most vulnerable, to plan pathways out just in case for 10 years, and only one person I know has done it. And she moved to Valencia last November and has not regretted it. Options are good.

When my daughter and my Mexican daughter-in-law got married, the plan was for daughter-in-law to move here, get a green card and then eventually become naturalized. Now I'm looking up Mexico's rules for foreign spouses of Mexican citizens in case their marriage becomes illegal here.
