   Unpopular opinion:

   I hope #canada announces cancelling the purchase of Lockheed F35 planes.
   I have not heard that yet and it would be a mistake to go through with it considering that they didn't choose the gripen #aircraft because #Sweden was not part of #nato

     @blaise Perhaps you've already seen it, but according to this CBC report, the government is "actively looking at potential alternatives to the U.S.-built F-35 stealth fighter and will hold conversations with rival aircraft makers." Also according to the article, the government has already paid for the first 16 F-35s, and I don't know what would happen if we cancelled the order. (I'm assuming it would not be refunded.)

     I agree completely that we can no longer trust American-made weapons systems, and have to look at alternatives.
