   @gentoobro @Loki I think the big one was when DLC got merged into the game at runtime. Having to download a massive patch cos the game is too dumb to load DLC dynamically is ass

     Xbone, iirc, and initially due to corporate incompetence.

     But disc-only games aren't practical anymore. 16x Bluray read speed is only 72MB/s, contrasted with a low end SSD at 3500MB/s+. The Xbonex has 12GB of ram, and to fill 10 of that would take 138 seconds assuming its drive is capable of 16x. And that's not accounting for the dynamic nature of many modern AAA titles that are constantly swapping out large portions of data.

     Why and when did we start having to install disc games?? :Cirno_For_Reals: like at what point did we go from putting the disc in the console and playing it immediately to putting the disc in, installing some gay day 1 patch update to putting the disc in and having to wait for a few gbs worth of installation???
