     This has been in motion since the late 1970s. Small increments by both parties as GOP tacked hard libertarian right and Dems followed.

     Citizen United was a huge step forward but these days there are so many ways dark money can come in - look at our CPC - it is last gen corruption now.

     I think democracy's kryptonite was disinformation. Once you had a Fox News and Sinclair widebanding horseshit, horseshit became the new lingua franca for political discourse instead of fact.

     I know this has been the culmination of decades of foundational work but even so, the speed of the collapse; generations of work wiped out in less than two months, damage done that will take generations to fix, if in fact that's even possible at all; and all because rich folk will never be told what to do no matter what.

     That that looks to be our species' epitaph is one of the saddest excuses for a joke in existence.

     I guess they're right and the only war /is/ class war.

     @adwright it really was the Supreme Court passing Citizens United that allowed unlimited financial freedom in meddling with elections. Without Elon’s millions, Kamala had a great chance.

     I'm aghast. He really is speed-running Hitler.

     The scariest part of this is these are only the cases we know about. I think "obituary rules" are in effect here now, God help us all.

     Obituary rules are the only obituaries show up in the paper are people whom other, currently living, people care about.

     You won't see an obituary from anyone alone with no one, unless they themselves arrange for it.

     There is a clear pattern of incommunicado geographic relocation to remote camps.

     @adwright It’s extremely distressing to be caught up in this, having voted & rallied for our excellent candidate, and done our best to explain the dangers ahead. Now we’re here. The nuclear powered loonies are manning the asylum. He is so grotesquely ill informed, so deeply damaged, so grievously dumb. And now, so empowered.
