    I can’t believe it took me so long to realize how many people who spend their time commenting but not doing on the political spectrum try and score points by trying to dunk on Democrats.

    It’s so wild. I can’t unsee it now. It’s everywhere.

      @scottmiller42 @Tristan
      Right, this. Like…we need to bonk elected Democrats on the head whenever they’re not acting like an opposition party — but that must not, absolutely never, come at the expense of realizing that Republicans made this mess, and Republicans alone have gone full fascist.

      Also: politicians follow; people lead. We need to be taking anti-fascist action in our own lives and our own circles if we ever expect elected politicians to do so. And per the OP, the overlap of “complaining on social media” with “doing nothing IRL” is…large.

      @Tristan In case I wasn't 100% clear, definitely gum up the works as much you can, sow division, mistrust, and infighting amongst your enemy as much as you can, shine a huge spotlight every time they do something that hurts most people.

      And I'm sure they will and are doing that.

      Just don't expect miracles, which is what the "Do Something!" crowd demands.

      @scottmiller42 What did republicans do when they were in the minority over the last 20 years? They were loud and confrontational on all media outlets, they used every arcane procedure to slow things down and outright stop bills from passing, they framed the conversation according to their terms. Sorry no, Dem leadership does not get a free pass! If they refuse to lead, we must replace them with people who will.

      @TonyStark They demand, "Do Something!", when the Republicans control the House, Senate, Whitehouse, and SCOTUS.

      Don't get me wrong, Democratic Party folks should still do things like initiate court challenges and speak publicly against the most unpopular things happening, but it's ridiculous to think that somehow, they can stop POTUS47 from screwing everything up if they just try hard enough.
