I'm having trouble with this one. What exactly did Dawkins do that was so wrong? Accuse AIPAC of having too much power? ie disagreeing that AIPAC's authority is "wildly exaggerated"? Is it really though??
Egypt getting money is money to keep it from going to war with israel again, so that doesn't help.
I'm having a hard time unwinding these claims generally. I think the only thing we can really take from this is that atheists/secular people need to find some large block of religious people to work alongside in the US if we have any hope of opposing AIPAC in practice, which I think is unfortunate but probably accurate (ie the christian zionists really do give israel a lot of klout in US politcs).
@jeffcliff@gorskon I just skimmed this but as you asked my opinion: Agree it would be much better to refer to the Israeli lobby or AIPAC as opposed to a Jewish Lobby. That said, I would not accuse someone of anti-semitism based on that alone as the main point (the extreme influence of AIPAC on US foreign policy) stands.
