I think people learn the most by fixing shit. Not only was windows shitware, but the hardware was all over the place and often required hands on. I remember having to manually set irq channels back in the day. -

@Humpleupagus @teto @PhantomKat In elementary school, we had macs which Just Worked.
Meanwhile at home, my dad assembled a PC installed dos > win3.1 > win95 and when it came time to upgrade to windows 98 I wanted to rename the Windows directory to match it. Learned that makes it so windows can't boot, but was able to get into recovery mode enough to rename it back thank God and it booted.
Things learned through your failures do seem to hold well.
