@GreenSkyOverMe after Eisenhower tried negotiating with the Nazi friendly Vichy government behind his back he never trusted them. It's why France wouldn't be part of NATO, wouldn't have US bases, and why they developed their own nuclear weapons instead of jointly with the US like the Brits did
