   I once read a fanfic take on the Wizard of Oz where at the end Dorothy got to stay in Oz with her new friends. It involved interdimentional doppelgangers and it turned out Oz was this Dorothy's real home anyway, but still... As a kid and even now, I loved books about people, (mostly kids), going to other worlds and making magical friends.

     They usually ended with the kids coming home supposedly having learned valuable life lessons, but having to say good bye to the precious friends they made, (possibly the only friends they have), and the world they've come to love. I'd like to read more stories where the person gets to stay with their friends. I have read one or two. Ideally, though I know it's even less realistic, the person would be able to go back and forth,

     so they could still have their family and human friends and pizza in this world, and their friends and the fresh air and idyllic landscapes common in these stories in the other world.

     @Fragglemuppet In the Russian version of Wizard of Oz, The Wizard of Emerald City by Alexander Wolkow, she goes back twice to her friends in book 2 and 3, and then there are 3 more books where her younger cousins go, as she is an adult (a teacher) by then. In book 6 there are aliens! That one was my favorite.
