   for reasons :-) i'd like to move to my own instance of 1 user using managed mastodon hosting.
   fedi.monster like masto.host is currently closed to new customers sad face :-) oh well i can wait :-)
   Anybody got any other recommendations for managed mastodon hosting for an instance with 1 user?

     @rtanglao @bmann async delivery came late to twitter. There was one day that Ev said “err, it’s taking like 30 seconds to post a tweet”, because he had a couple thousand followers and updating the memcache timelines took a while.

     We’re bringing sync back, y’all ?

     @rtanglao @bmann technically, the queue server (but not the inbox) could live on your laptop and run as part of the static site generator build process.

     @blaine @bmann i use g*thub actions and feel dirty :-) but it's useful to have all that computing power for free in the cloud

     @bmann @rtanglao technically, a little inbox server plus a static-site generator and a queue in a github action should be enough to make it all work. It’d be interesting to see what (if any) the obstacles are to that!

     @rtanglao @blaine design-for-self-hosting is definitely a thing that needs work.

     What does designing software for running on Fly.io or Railway hosting look like? (these are bleeding edge even for technical devs)

     What does it look like to run on your desktop, but supported by a cloud based relay hub?

     @rtanglao I’m using @support for the two larger instances I run right now.

     I feel like Mastodon isn’t great for scaling down to one user.

     It’s on my list to see if perhaps Fly.io or Railway can run MissKey (NodeJS) or Pleroma (Elixir)

     @rtanglao @bmann or just a tiny queue server. I wonder if I ask @simon what he uses for datasette queues if this ultra-light activitypub server will be built by the time I get back from making breakfast?
