   Well, Mastodon has started to update beyond my Linux knowledge, therefore I have decided to migrate off of this instance and shut it down.

   Sometime in the next 24-48 hours I will be migrating to a new account on mementomori.social

   I will lose my posts, but I will keep this instance up long enough to go back and re-post some of the more popular ones.

   If you get a follow from a new account with my name, it's most likely real.🫡

     @AHIRAISSHY 🤷♂️I'll still be on Fedi, I just won't be running my own instance.

     I can't justify the cost anymore and I was just barely Linux literate enough to get the instance off the ground, but now I'm several updates behind on both software and OS and I don't feel like I have the ability to keep up anymore.

     @DavidBHimself I will be migrating the account, just wanted to make the note that I planned on doing so, beforehand in case someone gets confused.

     I don't go with a managed option like Masto.host because I want to see as much of Fedi as possible and that can get expensive REAL fast with a host that doesn't allow cloud bucket storage.

     @BeAware@social.beaware.live Why don't you just migrate your account? Create the new account first, boost the unfinished conversations so you can continue them with the new account, and then migrate?
     Also you can have a solo instance that is hosted somewhere if you can't deal with the technical aspects. That's what I'm doing with my Mastodon account. I advise SpaceHost or MastoHost.

     @BeAware I'm not up-to-date with prices but a single user instance should be affordable. I can be kept below 20GB storage.

     @morph @DavidBHimself I sit at more than 20 gb with user profile pics and headers.

     I follow over 1000 people. Things get quite hefty really quickly.

     I'm probably just not knowledgeable enough tbh, I'd rather join someone that knows more of what they're doing so I don't have to worry about the background stuffs.
