As far as I know you can't migrate a VM if it has PCI passthrough configured. So, in this case, clustering would help the other VMs that don't require dedicated hardware.

I never put my 3 Proxmox boxes in a cluster because some of my VMs can't run on other boxes: OPNSense requires the PCI 4 port card and Home Assistant has two USB dongles.

I also didn't want to worry about the quorum thing which can cause issues.

I debate putting them in a cluster every once in a while but just leave them as is.

I can somewhat easily move VMs around by restoring a backup that lives on the NAS, so that's good enough for now.

I realized today that I have an idling identical Proxmox box in my office where I can run the TrueNAS Scale Beta VM.

I was able to easily get the docker version of Nextcloud on there. I had read about issues with container versions not working with proxies, I still need to test that.

I'm running a Nextcloud Pi VM right now, but I don't really need any of the extra features it provides, and it doesn't get updates as quickly as the more direct versions, so the NCP version is still on Hub 9 where the Docker version on TrueNAS Scale is on Hub 10.
