     @puniko ..no error message whatsoever. my original avatar seems to have vanished too and now there is just the default.
     
     But when I do select a new one even the default is missing?

     @kate how big is that image and what is its type? i think maybe its hitting a limit somewhere? it should be under 2MB and must be a jpeg or png

     @kate mmmh, seems like pixelfed is stumbling over somewhere in the avatar update process. i see a bunch of avatar optimize jobs failing due it not being able to read the image for some reason. will take a look at it later today.

     @puniko ...the one I use is a PNG with 200kB ... I tried with the old one as jpg with 10kB too ....

     @kate restored the avatar pointed at in the database
     
     no clue what happend there, but it seemed that pixelfed didn't update the avatar pointer in the database to point at the correct image. sorry about that
