     “The Amiga expects ‘byte swapped’ images”
     no; emulators expect byte swapped images. As in, you dump a rom and then you need to byte swap it for emulators to be able to use it.
     The fact that swapping the bytes renders ASCII strings legible does not change how they are stored on the hardware.
