@mischievoustomato no when people post across 20 threads i don't scan their account to see wtf they're on about. at best i read the actual thread i'm responding to :cat_sad:
@icedquinn i've been trying KDE since yesterday, given it's a new week and I wanna do the "KDE for a week challenge" thing, but it's.... gonna be pretty hard. I've already filed a bug today.
@mischievoustomato kde used to be big power user hours and gnome was highly accessible
everything in the world has truly gone to shit. i guess inclusivity was referring to everyone adding their toilets to MAINTAINERS because a lot of this is just shit now :blobcatgooglybadumtss:
@mischievoustomato :blobcatadorable: i would like to change the font to my favorite monospace font apostrophe devs: :comfystoner: font selector is bloat
@icedquinn oh yeah there's that sorta stuff but for the most part the apps I use use the 3 fonts defined on gnome's settings just fine and I never have to care about that. At least the apps do work
@mischievoustomato@whiteline > mouse support was written in javascript > maintainer for notepad quit > font selector is bloat > appindicators bad, write proprietary shell extensions for the same fucking thing instead :blabcat: > no use case found for 'working' > [COC violation]
@icedquinn@whiteline > > mouse support was written in javascript > somehow smoother than kde > > font selector is bloat just set your font on gnome-tweaks or the dconf database > > maintainer for notepad quit gnome text editor is there and supported iirc > > appindicators bad, write proprietary shell extensions for the same fucking thing instead :blabcat: bleh, i dont use that extension 🤷♂️ > > no use case found for 'working' yet, the apps do work > > [COC violation] yeah, this is annoying, but i'll do fine if i just treat the stuff coldly so bleh
@icedquinn@whiteline you can just do it (and they might introduce those settings on teh settings app) I just have a low tolerance for other stuff non-gnome because non-gnome stuff seems to plainly suck big time and I can configure gnome with nix given the dconf database exists
@icedquinn@whiteline config files are simpler but can also get messier. I don't have a single problem with the dconf database beyond some options only being there and not existing on gnome tweaks or settings.
And well, since it can be used by nix for declarative config, like, it's a completely great feature for me unironically
