@Evil_Bender @ChairmanO15 >and an hour and a half tops
-For you. At the end of hour #1 I might have found the jack stands that were buried in the garage.

When i hear people say shit like;
>just paid $1300 to get my pads and rotors replaced
Thats like $200 in parts and an hour and a half tops.

@ChairmanO15 Plastics.
Door handles in particular should be metal. Feds regulate everything else but they let mechanical parts be made of plastic that snaps at the worst possible moment.

My advice is be mechanically able to fix your own stuff, regardless of how old it is. 80% of the costs that get people fucked up is a basic repair that you get bent over for $1000+ on

Doesn't help most cars are fitted with parts that are destined go out the first couple of years of ownership.

@ACL9000 I'm sure there's a lot of shenanigans behind the consolidation of hundreds of auto makers into three.
Hopefully the feds will ease off on mileage standards and everything won't be forced to have a wind tunnel optimized design making all sedans, vans and trucks look the same.

@ACL9000 The Pacer was a unique and, at the time, futuristic looking car.
Never drove one so I can't speak to that.
Just learned that AMC formed when Hudson and Nash merged. Nash Metro is another classic.

@judgedread The AMC story is sad. They tried so hard, and it was better for us when there were more of them. Now all that's left is the word "Jeep" and also Dodge can sell something called the Hornet. :pepe_cry:
I love that little Nash Metro. I enjoy lots of fancy high-tech performance jewelry and all that, but to behold the relatively lighthearted and carefree cars of my grandparents' era is all it takes to feel stupid.
A world of wheeled bathtubs and little Cushman scooters and bicycle carts selling hot dogs is undeniably better than what they've got us trying to do now.

@NitroDubs Gremlin and Pacer were well-designed cars. Everyone can fall on their swords to @ me about this matter.
