So, apparently that 1.5 billion dollar Eth hack happened because the hackers got into one of their S3 buckets that was serving their dapp and pointed it at a hostile contract. -

There are more steps involved in this but that's the main part. Somehow they got access by getting someone to run a program with a library with a security flaw in it. reading more now -
