   Thanks all who replied.

   On a podcast, I heard one person say that Democrats had been too focused on trans issues, rather than the foreign policy issues the speaker was concerned about.

   On another, when, mention of a land acknowledgement during a Democratic Party meeting came up, the interviewee scoffed and said, "When will they ever learn?"

     Anyway, I think it's no, but. I think being asked to do the work of learning real history and acknowledging systemic injustice is too much for some people. They'd rather fall back to comforting illusions, even if it perpetuates that injustice.

     I don't think the Democratic Party or its candidates demands much of that work from voters, but a vague tendency in media and culture does, and those voters call that tendency "the Democrats".

     I think it's wildly unreasonable to hope that abandoning the rights of some group of humans will bring the votes back and put a Democrat in the White House in 2028. And even if it does, who cares? What does being a Democrat even mean, if the policy of the party is to throw this or that group under the bus? Why go to such an extreme measure just to be like the party you will apparently do anything to defeat? Democrats are the baddies, then.

     @evan yeah, human rights and equal rights should not be negotiable. You can't sacrifice a group to the fascists without endangering everyone else, because then the fascists know that their tactic works.
