I feel like downtown Seattle is the west coast N American downtown city that people outside the US think San Francisco has but we don't (every international visitor is always shocked at Union Square.. not at the.. situation, but at the lack of interesting shops and things to do)

@Flux transit and housing situation also. It feels like a ghost town that it doesn’t feel like real people live there.

@skinnylatte didn't used to be. The wealth inequality over the last 30 years has killed it.

I know the city is always trying to ‘activate’ it with ‘bhangra’ and ‘food trucks’ and now ‘more alcohol!’ But I still can’t remove my expectations of how everything that happens there is sterile and horrible and soulless. Hell, I’ve been to ‘soulless’ places with more soul than the SF financial district and downtown area

@skinnylatte YES. I took a barre class in FiDi and I think I lost all my gut microbes by being around such a sterile environment and people.

@skinnylatte Kind of dark to think Seattle downtown is closer to folks imagined form of a vibrant west coast downtown because it's also quite bleak in many ways.
