   Visualizing the amount of taxes that Berkshire Hathaway pays: “ Let me recast the $26.8 billion that we paid last year [in US federal corporate income tax].

   If Berkshire had sent the Treasury a $1 million check every 20 minutes throughout all of 2024 – visualize 366 days and nights because 2024 was a leap year – we still would have owed the federal government a significant sum at yearend.”

   This seems a useful way to visualize other people with vast sums of money

     @esnyder it was in the context of them telling this administration to do a better job with whatever taxes they’re paying them.

     Not super progressive but progressive for a hedge fund I guess

     @skinnylatte I assume from the phrasing of the quote that is an except from someone making the case for how burdensome taxes are on corporations, or at least how civic-ly valuable they are.

     But all I can think of when I see it is what ungodly amounts of money are pouring through them 😬
