     It's surprising how cheap the slop in is Japan even so.

     It's surprising how cheap the slop is, in Japan (600円 is quite cheap for 3 items unlike how much it costs in other countries).

     @Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com That's because unlike western countries where healthy food from restaurants is generally unavailable in general in Japan McDonald's actually has to compete.

     @Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com And yes the character is indeed proprietary but I assume McDonald's struck a deal with copyright holders of both the Tetoris song and the character?
     
     Also Suiseiseki is a proprietary character.

     @SuperDicq Japanese restaurants don't seem to really serve much healthy food - it's deep friend stuff, corn syrup filled, white rice etc (although do also serve seaweed, vegetables and fish) - although they tend not to serve enough food to make you obese (when I went to Japan, I had a hard time finding dishes at restaurants that were large enough to sustain my GNU/Form).
     
     It appears that they do need to be cheaper than the other slop that is available to compete.

     I believe the tune is so old is has fallen out of copyright.

     Ah yes, I need to ask the copyright holders to relicense to a free license (it appears that in this rare case the artists remained the copyright holders rather that some business).

     @Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com The song "テトリス" indeed contains the melody of "Коробушка" which is out of copyright.
     
     However I'm pretty sure the song itself is copyrighted even though it is based on a public domain work. If you use a public domain work as part of your original work it still copyrightable (like Disney cartoons based on public domain fairytales) as far as I know.
     I'm not sure if the copyright holder of the original character is known.The copyrights to the Kasane Teto character are owned by the ツインドリル doujin circle. The original artist of the character and the voice actor who provided the voice bank are part of this circle.

     There is plenty of healthy food available even in "western countries", although you cannot buy it from a restaurant or as a "ready meal" - you need to go to the supermarket and cook it yourself and it seems on average normies just eat the slop.
     
     (Yes, some places in the USA do not have fresh fruit or vegetables, but it seems unadulterated canned vegetables are still available).

     I haven't listened to the original, but it appears to be a parody of the existing song that is based on the same public domain work, but has different lyrics and doing so is permitted under copyright law.

     The original artist of the character is the copyright holder of the character unless it was assigned to someone else or some business.
     
     It's popular for those who are not the copyright holder to claim ownership huh?

     @Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com Yes, I'm glad I live in the Netherlands where fresh fruits and vegetables are available in supermarkets. However the quality of meat really sucks so I usually make vegetarian meals.
     
     As far restaurants in my area you can choose between a lot of unhealthy stuff, such as;
     * American fast food chains like McDonalds, Dominos, KFC
     * A bunch of doner kebab shops
     * Dutch-style Cafeterias (they only serve fried foods)
     * Chinese-Indonesian restaurants (run by Vietnamese people)
     
     And that's about it. All are very obesity inducing foods.

     @Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com Dutch Chinese-Indonesian are actually infamous for their large serving sizes.
     
     Sometimes when I don't feel like cooking I order a simple take-away menu at one of these restaurants and it is usually enough for to sustain me for 3 days.
     
     It does contain too much MSG tho, but at least it contains some vegetables and stuff unlike the fried food at Dutch cafeterias.

     @SuperDicq Such kind of assignment is only valid with a written assignment that states exactly which people or business such copyright is assigned to.
     
     A verbal agreement is merely an agreement not to sue, as no copyright assignment has taken place.
