     i think to some extent you just gotta downclock processors, or use simpler cores.

     Yes, in my laptop (praise be to asus), the ram, nvme and wifi chip are all replaceable.

     @icedquinn My laptop on idle can go down to 6-7w, I've seen people with laptops going down to 3-4. It's a matter of bios/acpi support, some software, and components. The NVME SSD my laptop has crashes if PCIE ASPM is enabled, so I need to get a new one in the future. The Wifi chip is also ass, which probably also means it draws more power than it should.

     @mischievoustomato @tadano my biggest issue with the old t420 was not that it lacked the power for casual games so much as it didn't speak vulkan and its been long enough that low end graphics require that
     
     anything opengl running on old hardware like that is borrowing the GLES profile from piece of shit third world phones at this point
