@Rocc The plug you a thinking of is 8P8C - RJ-45S is a proprietary slotted variant of the 8P8C plug that is not used anymore.
8P8C plugs are arguably longer lasting than usb-c plugs and I reckon that due to the size, it'll actually be possible to deal with or prevent pin corrosion unlike on usb-c plugs.
