   Current pet peeve: Bloggers/news articles that continue to embed (or even just link) Instragram and X posts now that logging in is required for those to work.

   Is screenshotting on Windows/Mac still a pain in the butt these days? Screenshots are all over X and Instragram ironically. So fair's fair, I say. Please screenshot in blog posts. Linking is fine, I guess, with a screenshot, but embedding is utterly useless these days.

     @flyingsquirrel Yeah without fair use you'd be stuck to embedding, with fair use… it always seems like a "Good luck!" kind of thing in practice.
     But IANAL either and I've a European bias where exceptions tend to be explicitly codified.

     @lanodan (Although with Instagram especially, it might be easier to justify "I'm screenshotting to comment on your copyrighted photo, as permitted by fair use" versus "I'm infringing on your copyright." IANAL. Canadian fair dealing is less forgiving. Fair use is a defense in a lawsuit, not an inherent right).
