@WarnerCrocker Can the courts issue arrest warrants for contempt?
@ianRobinson Yes, but to carry out an arrest the US Marshall's office would be the agents to do so. BUT, and here's the crazy part, the Marshall's office is a part of the Executive Branch, which means POTUS could issue an order not to carry out those warrants. It's nuts
@WarnerCrocker The way that the US civil service is organised always astounds me. I know they initially wanted it to be very different from the setup in Britain at the time.
But I’m thankful for the (largely) independent civil service, police, and courts in the UK.
@ianRobinson Our system has always had these holes within in it. The poor assumption was that there would never be someone who would exploit them this egregiously At the rate things are going any institution still standing will only be a memorial to what was always a hollow shell housing noble ideals to begin with.
