I have no idea why Kansas farmers continue to trust Republicans after all the Kochs’ meddling in local politics and the hardship that’s caused Kansans.

Were they played for suckers? I don’t know. They and others voted for him, believing none of his terrible policies would touch them personally.

If you know any Trump-voting farmers, let them know they can vote for something else.

With Trump and Musk driving U.S. policy, Kansas farmers have been played for suckers-

The hard truth is that, like most of the folks who voted for Trump, farmers failed to do their homework about the hard realities.

@TonyStark @arbres @Tengrain Not to mention that when republicans in Kansas attempted to amend the Kansas Constitution to restrict/ban abortion, it was soundly rejected in a popular referendum.

From the view of this native Kansan, I think this clinging to the republican party, particularly among those in Western Kansas, is due to a flawed notion that the party is still Lincolnian and/or Eisenhowerish. In reality, of course, both men would be labeled RINOs and booted out of the party today.

@arbres @Tengrain I have a friend there with a nice wife and 2 kids so I’m going to stop short of saying they’re all horrible. I don’t like demonizing whole states and there’s an active grassroots Dem organization there.

And Laura Kelly is in her 2nd term so I hold out hope.

@TonyStark @Tengrain When I lived in Kansas I talked to people constantly about how things work in reality. They don't want to hear it. They put Kris Kobach in as Attorney General after he was indicted for stop the steal w Bannon. I hauled ass at the first opportunity bc the people there are really horrible, regardless of political party. Permitting nazis to run amok is bad. Period. Lots of insurrection dudes wanting civil war. Stupid, crazy, murderous Christians.

@Tengrain We have this on one end and I got yet again today a flurry of responses, some of them very abusive, from alleged left people, saying that being involved in politics is a waste of time, that they’ll never vote for a Democrat, and encouraging people to take up guns against Trump.

      Something’s got to give here.

I’ll add one small note that the Kansans know but did not say: once we've lost a market, it almost never comes back.

So for all the international sales that just flipped over to Brazil for soybeans (for instance), those are pretty much gone from the US forever.
