This isn't Harley Davidson committing to make 100% electric vehicles by 2035 or Gillette trying to sell razors to guys by running ads about how much guys suck. Costco has always had a rock-solid value prop and they've never taken out ads to tell me they hate me. 🤷♀️ whatever they're doing seems to be working as far as I can tell, I'm not mad their board said they're sticking with the status quo.

On the substance, I don't find either the 64 civil rights act or anti dei laws particularly credible in light of the freedom of association guaranteed in the first amendment. Companies should be free to not hire the best employees if they want to, and let the market smack them around for it.

@nicholas @thendrix its not just the board its also most of the shareholders. it's really just one minority of shareholders throwing a fit.

the board claims they aren't in the path of said suits and it might very well be true. the lawsuits are about being overtly racist despite collective brain damage that you somehow 'cant be racist' if the victim is white, and if they aren't forcing people to attend anti whiteness lectures or overtly dispersing bonuses based on race, they actually wouldn't be at risk of those suits

      > constitution
i hate how time and time again they keep granting bullshit claims by companies that noo that union action violates freedom of association, making is inform employees of their rights violates speech

meanwhile scotus literally straight up defended fascism (FBI running facebook) because well you know facebook didn't haaaave to obey the guy holding a gun to their head :neocat_bottom:

@nicholas is correct on all accounts here, this is not my personal opinion. The Laws of Physics and the Laws of Limited Resources (I made this one up) is the best regulation of "business".

Let them hire the suck, step aside and mind your own "business".

@FourOh-LLC @nicholas @thendrix i was referencing uber winning a court case vs seattle city recently because the city passed a law saying gig companies have to provide weeks of notice when firing a 'contractor' and also tell them how to lodge an appeal with corporate

they sued arguing that their constitutional rights to speech and association were violated by... being required to tell employees how to invoke their rights, and having to give people notice when firing them.

There is only bad faith, which is not at all that difficult to evidence.

Western Civilization is an ethical Society, and bad faith in ethical societies are valid complaints. Professional, trained and licensed entities violating necessary transparency and good faith are ought to get called out.

This is not in the "Constitution" either, yet ethics is The Foundation in 21st Century everything - business, law, education, even warfare.

@FourOh-LLC @nicholas @thendrix that's beside the point though. their argument is clearly moronic (that having to tell employees how to contact their boss violates freedom of speech)

"city passed a law" tells me all I need to know.
The ONLY purpose of these laws is to defeat county, state, federal limitations, and they are NEVER a good thing.
