I use to believe this. I've lived in several cities with transport, and it's super nice. But the cities themselves are all dense, claustrophobic and filled with people dependent on the vile sludge of collective mediocracy. Land value somehow skyrocketing around density.
I still think self driving cars are a dead-on-arrival technology that will never be viable. But as I grow older, I can understand why the suburbs of places like Atlanta have fought attempts to implement suburban rail so they don't end up like Chicago.

The biggest advantage I see to self driving cars, other than increased safety, is alliveiating parking issues. My car can drop me off at the baseball game, drive back home, and then pick my drunk ass up in 3 hours.
