the train i rode to sapporo in japan had rails like that and it was a little shakey (and not very fast)

@theresnotime The Spanish rail network was built with a wider track gauge because of a miscalculation. They took inspiration from the English rail network, which used standard 1435mm gauge, but they wrongly assumed that, because of the Spanish steep landscape, trains would need to accommodate a larger boiler. That's why they used the Iberian gauge.
Although there's an urban legend that says that they used a different track gauge to avoid a French invasion.
