    @domo @cwebber Is it because Cloudflare is based in the US?

      @daniel @domo It is because:

      - Cloudflare is centralization
      - Cloudflare breaks accessibility
      - Cloudflare blocks tor and many VPNs
      - Cloudflare is a Man-in-the-Middle attack
      - Cloudflare's primary mechanism for verifying whether or not you're a "valid user" is surveillance

      @cwebber @daniel @domo

      > is centralization
      The unfortunate reality of DDoS protection is it requires vast amounts of compute to absorb, which mandates centralization
      > breaks accessibility
      How?
      > blocks tor
      That’s an option for site administrators. Cloudflare *also* has free support for onion routing
      > is a MITM attack
      How? The admin consented. The admin using *any* service would be MITM under this logic.

      @cwebber @daniel @domo Also don't forget they host hate speech and allegedly terrorist organizations, and take a libertarian view of their responsibility here as they view themselves as part of the neutral infrastructure of the internet: https://www.fastcompany.com/90312063/how-cloudflare-straddles-its-role-as-privacy-champion-and-hate-speech-enabler

      @cwebber @daniel @domo Reminds me of how Cloudflare sometimes means federation issues and broken native applications.
