@inpurpleshadows It’s definitely that. They do go to Bible study & their bibles are heavily marked up but they’re marked w/ what their leaders tell them to think, for the most part. Part of the appeal of religion to a sadly large subset of people who claim to have faith has always been the father/authoritarian figure. This wasn’t a big leap for them. Studies consistently show less neuroplasticity, more rigid thinking among evangelicals than even regular people of faith. #faith @MostlyHarmless

Crazy how many fundamentalists dismiss this. I almost get the feeling that some (reminder: not all) Christians have a surface-level understanding of their own religion.
