Years ago, seeing Americans argue why they couldn't have a European-style healthcare system, I would see conservatives argue it couldn't work in America the way it does in Europe because "America is much more (racially) diverse". They wouldn't explain the argument further, but it didn't make any sense to me.

Years later, I realized what they meant: white people would accept such a system if it only helped white people, but not if it helps non-white people.
