   Why are most people with more than a few thousand followers raging assholes that think their shit smells like roses and daisies?!?🙄🤦♂️

   Before you follow someone that has a huge following, maybe look at some of their replies and see how they talk to people.

   Or maybe you just don't care and enjoy seeing egotistical assholes basically go "do you know who the fuck I am?!? How DARE you reply to my public post!!!!".

   I've blocked almost every massive account here besides a select few that are actually very kind. Most don't acknowledge you exist and if they do, they're probably raging at you unless you're missing their ass.😒

     @BeAware I think it's an ego problem. Some (or many) seem to think this platform evolves around them. So they feel they can act however they want. As if they own the platform. I Have run a few in the past 2 weeks since I have joined.

     What gets me is when you reply to one of their posts, they rudely tell you to stop!

     Uh this is a public platform. If you don't want people to reply or boost your posts, maybe it's time to get your own instance!

     Even better, some won't even get back to you when they say they will. Promise made....promises broken.

     @justjustin definitely an ego problem.🤦♂️

     However, even if they get their own instance, if they continue to post with "public" setting, it will still be public and able to be replied to.

     They simply just need to stop posting publicly.

     Best part is when they call you a reply guy for...*checks notes*....replying.🙄

     @justjustin I do have my own instance and am staying on it.

     The point is, that if I'm posting with a "public" setting, it will go to every instance that has at least 1 account that follows me.

     Just because I run my own instance, doesn't mean my posts are automatically private. It just means that nobody else can make an account here unless I allow it. It still works like every other Mastodon instance.

     I'd have to set my posts to "followers only" for them to be "private".

     Mastodon has a lot of former twitters thinking they can still "tweet" their nonsense, and it makes them feel "Holier than thou" for the rest of us.

     @lynnskyi well, followers don't necessarily mean they talk to them. It means that they see their posts on their timeline, therefore it makes some people feel like they're more important for some reason. Which leads to the behavior I'm complaining about.

     Usually the only people someone would interact with regularly is someone THEY follow, not people they're followed by.🤷♂️

     I'm on my own instance, so I try to follow people back cause I want to interact with many people and see people's opinions.

     I feel like I'm in the minority there though and most people wont follow back everyone that follows them.

     @BeAware Why would anyone here even want all those followers? I have fewer than 200 followers, and that's fine. I have plenty of people to talk with here.

     @lynnskyi for sure, but the only thing stopping thousands of people from following you, is that you have your account locked.

     Point being, that I can have 10,000 more followers tomorrow and it wouldn't mean that I'm talking to any of them. I only usually talk to people I follow or who's posts I find interesting and I definitely won't be following 10,000 people.🤷♂️

     I just don't see why having so many followers makes people so egotistical. Just because a few thousand people choose to read their opinions, that doesn't make them some sort of messiah that cannot converse like a normal human being. It's very weird.

     @BeAware I see your point. I follow two types of people--people I know or want to interact with, and sources of information about news, politics, tech or books.
