@MS26 @NightDrake I usually try to say something cheerful, either about myself or about what a nice day it is or something, to try and force them out of that mood. Maybe I've got the wrong thinking here, but I feel like it's a tug of war. They're trying to pull me intheir mood, so I'm going to do it right back! Sometimes I'll try it even if I'm not actually in a good mood. In fact I might be more likely to do it because now I'm feeling spiteful, lol.

@NightDrake I don't usually know how to respond when I ask someone how they are and they say something like well I'm alive, or can't complain in a grumpy tone. I'm usually like oh yeah? with a question like is there more coming after that? Or I just agree.

Another way to answer the age old question?
Person 1, "How are you?"
Person 2. "I'm upright."
That's at least a step up from yesterday.
